Set up or change a direct debit.

Direct debit is the easiest way to pay. Your insurance premiums will be taken care of automatically. And unlike others, we don’t charge more to pay by instalments. Simply set and forget.

Call us on 0800 80 24 24 to set up or update:

  • a direct debit from your bank account for new home, contents, and landlord's policies
  • a recurring payment from a credit card.

For car, motorbike, home, contents, and landlord policies, you can set up or update a direct debit from your bank account by logging in to My State, your online account. 

Pay online by credit or debit card.

If you have a home, contents, landlord's, car, or motorcycle policy, you can make an annual payment online with your credit or debit card. Fast. Easy. Secure. And unlike others, we don’t charge more to pay by instalments. 

To make an annual payment online, either:

  • Log in to your State app or My State online account and select the policy you'd like to pay for.
  • Make a quick annual payment without logging in using the button below. You’ll need your policy number handy.

Pay in-person through NZ Post.

If your policy schedule displays an NZ Post barcode, you can pay your premium in-person at your local NZ Post Shop. Remember to bring your State policy schedule with you (either a digital or printed version).

To pay your premium from your bank account, use the search function in your banking app to add State Business Insurance as a new payee (under bill payments). Make sure you put your policy number in the particulars field.

Pay by phone.

Pay in-person through NZ Post.

You can pay for your renewal at a NZ PostShop. Just take your payment advice into a PostShop that accepts bill payments – you can check on the NZ Post website.

Please note that contract works policies are paid in full as a one-off payment.
