Spring prep your home and garden.

September 2024

Spring is your sign to put the pep back into your pad. We’ve got tips to help you tackle it quick smart. So, roll up your sleeves and get ready for some spring cleaning.

Get rid of it

Over the year we end up with all kinds of junk. Clearing the clutter first makes cleaning easier and means you’ve got more room.

Go through each room and sort items into piles. Keep. Give away. Chuck. Ask yourself - what do you truly need and use? Don’t forget to check what’s been hiding in the back of your storage spaces.

Deep clean

Time to get to those hard-to-reach places. The tricky ones that get skipped during regular cleans. Start from the ceiling and work your way down to the floors. Places that collect dirt and grime are:

  • ceilings, light fixtures, walls, and baseboards
  • bedding, cushions, throws, carpets and rugs
  • behind and under appliances, inside cabinets and drawers, the pantry and refrigerator.

Go eco

When choosing your cleaning products, think of our friend Mother Nature. There are lots of eco-friendly products that work just as well as traditional cleaners but without harsh chemicals. You can also make your own natural cleaning solutions using ingredients like vinegar, baking soda, and lemon. Yippee.

Don’t forget the garden.

Early spring is the best time to get stuck into the garden.  Get things in tip-top shape to reap the rewards in summer.

  • Trim your trees.
Trees and plants are dormant and will heal faster. So, it’s the perfect time to prune dead or damaged branches to help healthy growth. Your garden will look better, plus it helps protect your house from fallen branches.

  • Prep your flower beds.
Clear the soil of weeds and debris, then loosen it with a fork to help drainage. Add compost or manure so your flowers have plenty of goodness for blooming their best.

  • Maintain with mulch.
To help your garden survive the summer heat, apply a layer of mulch around your plants. Mulch helps retain moisture, suppress weeds, and regulate soil temperature for summer. Organic mulches like wood chips are great options.

A little prep goes a long way. Your garden will thank you.

Phew. That’s all folks.

Finally - make yourself a cuppa and take a moment to enjoy your sparkling sanctuary. Happy cleaning.
